History of Agri Campus

Before we actually understand what actually Agri-campus is all about , let us first know a little about the history of agriculture in India and its role it has played in building the economy worldwide. Agriculture history in India dates back to the neolothic. Here are some key points to highlight :

• India ranks 2 nd worldwide in farm outputs.

• Agriculture employed more than 50% of indian workforce which contributed 17-18% to India’s GDP.

• In 2016 agriculture and sectors like animal husbandry, forestry and fisheries accounted for 17.5 of GDP with about 41.49 % of the workforce in 2020.

• India ranks first in the world with highest net cropped area followed by US and China.

Agriculture has done wonders in every sector , and so we have come up with a new variant to accelerate the growth of Agriculture which is known as Agri- Campus. It has been initiated in order to lay emphasis on agricultural education in India . Its main aim is to collaborate the agricultural sector with the education sector. When it comes to agriculture education, it doesn’t mean teaching just about how to farm, it affects future Scientists, Nutritionists, Teachers, people who want to be involved with the government , environmentalists and many more professions that could be seemingly unrelated.
